Carter's Peak
"Dear Father,
"I can scarce believe that it has been almost one hundred years since your passing! And what a productive century it has been: one of fiend and fae alike, of coal and blood, of the young and the prey.
"You can rest assured that I have retained full ownership of your estate since your passing! Well, save of course those substantial parts lost to that dreadful accident; I think often of what I would have done differently to prevent it. At my partner's assurance, I rest well at night knowing the blood on my hands has ensured the continued provision of blood on our plates for the past several decades. One must choose when they can and can not complain.
"Perhaps I will write again at the end of the next century, if our reunion in the Grand House continues to be postponed. I would hope that little changes in that time; I've grown quite accustomed to these doldrums.
"Until we meet again, your faithful son,
"Blair"
"when my other mother brought me to live w her she told me abt how the celestials were the first in the grand house to inherit the word 'illumination'. a lot of ppl think that means they know everything but thats not true!!! it just means we're really good at seeing the things in front of us n guiding others the right way!!! im glad she taught me that first thing cause the rest of the angels sure seem to know a lot more than me, haha.. if things go well here, i think it wont really matter how much i know :)"
"From the Notes of Blair Cameron:

For that reason, the more powerful Demons tend to have longer and more unpronounceable monikers. Still, each only has a single name, and being privy to even a few syllables of a longer name is often enough to at least provoke their attention, if not initiate a bargain. "this town used to be set up in a really straightforward way. rich people lived at the edge of town, where it was flattest. some would have small farms at the base of the peak, not to make money but to roleplay the experience of honest work. further up the peak, you'd get to the shops and markets. further up past that, you'd get to where the miner's lived in the shadows of the processing plants.
"when the mines closed down, everything moved. first the miners moved down, either on their way out of town or to try finding work at the shops or farms. the rich, who now found that people were farming to live and not living to farm, found a more authentic replication of the low class lifestyle in moving into the houses the miners left behind, classing them up a bit to resell to other rich people who also wanted to move further up the peak now, and remodeling their old three floor houses to rent out as apartments to three or four poorer families at a time.
"the exception to this were those who were REALLY rich. the old money never moved even once, their georgian style mansions hiding in plain sight among the identical looking flats."
