"Do you believe in fate? Cause I think I'm fated to be a pretty big deal."

Achezel Cenne-Llangwynach, Princess of Hell and Second Daughter of the Archdevil Asmodeus, is a Tiefling Swashbuckler, an adventurer of Tal'Sord, and a member of the adventuring party known as "The Good Ones". Cursed with the Mark of Gormog and burdened with both a very weighty Infernal lineage and a very mysterious human lineage, Achezel believes she is fated to bring unprecedented change to the world, even if her own conceptions of fate are frequently contested during her travels.

Early Life

Achezel was born in the Nine Hells, the second daughter of Asmodeus and next in line to the throne after her older half-sister Glasya. Her mother was Chaeyra Cenne, a human spellcaster and the Head Conjuror at the Starseer Academy. Unfortunately, Chaeyra left the Nine Hells rather abruptly while Achezel was still a young child, leaving little in the way of an explanation as to why. In her absense, Asmodeus was the one who raised Achezel for most of her life. She would admittedly develop a good amount of resentment towards him in this time, considering him to be far too cruel, uptight, and pragmatic to be the one responsible for raising her (and secretly believing that he was responsible for her mother's leaving in the first place, though she never confronted him about that).

While in the Nine Hells, Achezel would choose to learn fencing, much preferring the graceful maneuvers of the Swashbucklers of the Material Plane to the forceful and brutish methods of fighting commonly practiced by the Devils of the Nine Hells. It was a style that would similarly suit her less burly physique and make good use of her natural agility. She was never sure whether or not her father agreed to giving her these lessons with a mindset of disappointment or of understanding, but on some level she was grateful for the opportunity.

She would never truly feel like she fit in with the other Devils, especially as she was only a Tiefling and not fully Infernal, as her mother was human. The only Devil she really got along with was her "uncle" Dispater, the Archduke of Dis, the Second Circle of Hell, seeing him as more clever and intriguing than her own father. In a greater sense, she felt on some level that she could never truly be content living in the Nine Hells, much less potentially ruling it. She felt that the plane of eternal punishments and strict contracts was one of overwhelming stagnation and stasis, and that she needed to be somewhere where she could witness and enact actual change. It was likely during this time that she developed her strongest perceptions of fate, knowing so fully that she was destined to be somewhere else that reality had no choice but to eventually lead her elsewhere.

Arrival in Tal'Sord

It was after one of Achezel's many, many requests to visit her mother in the Material Plane that Asmodeus eventually relented, opening a gate which he believed would send her straight to her mother should she pass through it. Unbeknownst to anyone at the time, it would instead send her just North of Capool, a small town in the Northernmost reaches of Legalt, where she would spend her first moments in the Material Plane landing in a frozen lake.

After being discovered and brought in by the Matalls, a family of orcs, she would meet Ira (an undead Fire Genasi who was similarly found in the frozen lake), Roan Styrflaz (a satyr paladin and an heir to the throne of House Styrflaz in the Feyfell, who was also unexpectedly teleported to Capool), Rine Dreeba (a very smart bird), and Zaagar Matall (also known as Ziggy, a Half-Orc member of the guard). Achezel would be quick to assume that fate had brought this group together, on account of how coincidental so many of their arrivals were. As a group, they would help Capool with several of the problems it was facing at the time.

Along the way, Achezel would run into Daena Flame (an Aasimar Cleric and former Sky Trooper escaping an abusive relationship) at the local tavern. Surprising even herself, she was able to make a good first impression. In their first conversation, Achezel had asked Daena if she believed in fate, without knowing that Daena just so happened to worship Shelvera, the Goddess of Fate. Daena was also willing to help with the rest of the problems in Capool, and later would join their group.

Achezel Gets Cursed

After the problems in Capool were tended to, the group would choose to head to Telhar, a city to the west where Infernal and Underdark powers held a high amount of influence. There, Achezel hoped to meet with Asmodeus.

Upon arriving in Telhar, but before meeting with her father, Achezel decided to go sightseeing with Ira. The two decided to visit a Hag Fortuneteller, as Ira had questions about her own past and Achezel still didn't know where to find her mother. However, upon asking the fortuneteller about her mother, the divination failed ominously, and the image of a black snake suddenly appeared around Achezel's wrist.

This was later determined to be a curse mark from Gormog, a Chaotic Evil God from the Feyfell. Gormog had granted a number of these marks to others in Tal'Sord, each with its own boon and curse. Achezel's was the Dorsal Mark, which granted her the power to know the direction of the nearest other person bearing a similar mark (of which there are six in total) and the power to receive other marks should the previous bearer die. However, it's believed that receiving all of the marks would guarantee that she would become fully possessed by Gormog, and the marks couldn't be destroyed without her dying. In a sense, this fell in line with her pre-existing inclinations that fate had some sort of major plan for her, but it wasn't exactly the one that she had been hoping for.

Adventures in Tal'Sord

Over the course of travelling from Capool to Telhar to Philadelpha to Kinbaram to Penryn to the Feyfell to the Winter Court (pursuing a number of threads related to Achezel's curse, Ira's past life, Roan's duty to the Feyfell, and a number of conspiracies involving people in power doing pretty messed up stuff), the group would go on to (in no particular order):

Relationships

Achezel considers Ira to be her best friend, or "bestie". Ira was technically the first person that Achezel had ever met on the Material Plane (which, in the confusion of her arrival, had temporarily convinced Achezel that Ira was her mom, a misconception which was quickly fixed). Achezel considers Ira to be a trustworthy and reliable friend, and thinks her sincerity is refreshing and charming. Achezel's always willing to offer Ira advice, but usually the advice she offers to Ira comes off as more confusing than anything else (since Achezel likes to assume that everything she's asked about is either about romance or about her). Sometimes, though, she can allow herself be sincere enough to become at least a bit helpful when Ira comes to her for more serious advice. Her desire to see Ira happy is likely what causes her to have such a strong interest in Ira's romantic investments, frequently inquiring about her relationships with Nyla and Ziggy (who she assumes to be Ira's strongest romantic prospects) and frequently (clumsily) trying to play matchmaker between them.

Achezel's other strongest friendship is with Daena, with whom she has entered something of a romantic relationship. Achezel looks up to Daena as a knowledgeable and well-spoken companion. Achezel learned quickly that, despite their differences as a Tiefling and an Aasimar, they had a lot in common, neither of them accepting the path in life that others had given them and both holding some form of faith in the workings of fate. Achezel considers the advice that Daena had given her in regards to her fraught relationship with her father some of the most helpful she has received. She was more than happy to help Daena deal with Auwen Cirwing (her ex-fiance) when they had run into him during their travels, seeing the exchange as some form of repayment. Achezel also thinks very highly of Daena's opinion of her, promising to be less wreckless during combat when Daena had expressed concern.

Achezel sees Roan as something like a kindred spirit. Both are romantics, technically royalty, and enjoyers of parties. She enjoys his company, even though neither are in the best position to give the other good advice.

Conversely, Achezel has little in common with Rine yet admires him a lot for his intelligence, which is something she sorely lacks. For whatever reason, her intuition has lead her to believe that Rine and Frolile have a romantic spark, though this might be entirely in her own head.

While she hasn't known Miles for very long, she enjoys his company. He has a fun enough personality.

Though not good friends with him yet, she holds a unique interest in Zerreus as the only other party member with infernal heritage. Most importantly, she is curious about his brother's professed relationship with Asmodeus, be it a real relation or just one alleged to cement his position in an infernal society.
